Backend Engineer

Klaus is looking for a curious, detail oriented and communicative Software Engineer (backend) who by working with our engineering and product teams helps us build the best possible user experience for our customers.

Klaus is a conversation review (QA) platform for customer support teams that makes giving internal feedback easy and systematic.

Our hybrid team with offices in Tallinn has embraced the remote-first mindset from day one. We are growing quickly and are looking for a backend engineer to join our engineering team in Estonia or remotely from anywhere between UTC and UTC+4.

Our stack:

  • Go, PostgreSQL, GRPC, microservices, Java, Spring, REST
  • TypeScript, Vue.js, Cypress
  • Google Kubernetes Engine, Github Actions, Cadence and Temporal Workflows, Bazel and monorepo
  • Google AI Platform notebooks, Dataflow and Dataproc


  • Work independently in a team and deliver high-quality code in a timely manner
  • Build and improve our RESTful and RPC based APIs to be consumed by various applications (and end-users!)
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Optimize the application for maximum performance and scalability
  • Implement security and data protection functionalities
  • Design and implement data storage solutions
  • Build out integrations with help desk and analytics platforms
  • Perform code reviews and provide feedback to your peers
  • Write automated tests


  • Proven track record as a solid software engineer with a focus on backend development
  • Experience with programming languages like Go, Java or Python
  • Strong understanding of SQL and database technologies
  • Working experience with cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services
  • Comfortable with working remotely in English across departments
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Working knowledge of software version control systems
  • Issue tracking software experience
  • Based between UTC and UTC+4
